Children
of the Holy House Catholic
Culture Studies Program We will not hide them from their
children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord,
and His might, and the wonders which He has wrought. Psalm 78:4 The Children of the Holy House program is Our Lady of Walsingham
Institutes of Catholic Culture Studies’ enthusiastic response to the “new
evangelization” - a call issued to the whole Church by John
Paul II. The courses we offer through the
“Holy House” program assist home educators in enriching students’ understanding
of their Catholic spiritual and intellectual heritage. The students discover the influence of
Catholicism in every aspect of culture through their studies in art, music,
languages, science, math, literature, history, nature, philosophy, and in the
understanding of mankind’s relation to God.
Through these studies, grounded in a balance of faith and reason, they
are exposed to truth, goodness, beauty, and well-ordered thinking. We especially guide the children
to develop an awe and wonder of God and all that He is and has done; therefore,
the Eucharist is very much at the center of what we do. The students’ growth in
love of the Church gives them the courage necessary to be witnesses to the Faith
and to be the leaven that is necessary to transform the culture. Children of the Holy House
meets one full day a week from September through May. Our classical curriculum, for grades K-12, is
challenging and innovative, and we require a pledge of study and courtesy. Parents
are actively involved in helping their children complete their lessons during
the rest of week. Our teachers are devoted to the Faith and fully committed to
the task of developing and teaching courses that advance the study of Catholic
culture. Teachers and parents work as a
team to bring out the best in the students. Due to this teamwork, a healthy support
network has resulted and there is a consistent effort on the part of everyone to
grow in virtue. Students registered with the
Holy House program come from more than 25 zip codes in Houston and surrounding areas.
Since 1999, through the generosity and support of Fr. James T. Moore, Fr. Bruce
Noble, and, now, Fr. James Ramsey, Holy House has used the parish facilities of
Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church at 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, Texas
77055. CHILDREN OF THE HOLY HOUSE is an educational outreach of Our Lady of Walsingham
